La gare, dans sa forme finale, était constituée du vaste bâtiment principal construit selon le plan type de l’Etat de 1873, d’un hangar et d’une cour à marchandises équipée d’une rampe de chargement. Le bâtiment des voyageurs était équipé d’une très belle marquise en fer forgé. La gare était équipée de deux quais: celui de la voie 1 vers la France et celui de la voie 2 vers la Belgique. Ce quai « belge » était lui aussi jadis protégé par une marquise annexée à un bâtiment douanier disparu depuis les années 1920. Nous sommes à quelques centaines de mètres de la France... qui a toujours été tiède à propos de cet axe transfrontalier. En 1914, à la veille du conflit, les Français avaient, par prudence, stoppé le trafic international direct. Pour atteindre cette gare, la ligne de chemin de fer a nécessité la construction de nombreux ouvrages d’art, dont ce singulier pont sur pont au km 6,135 permettant, en-dessous, le passage du ruisseau Saint-Pierre prenant sa source à Onnezies, au milieu celui des piétons et, à l’étage supérieur, celui des convois. La halte angroise a reçu une infrastructure provisoire à l’arrivée du chemin de fer en 1872. La gare proprement dite n’a été construite que vers 1890: un bâtiment principal avec une salle d’attente, le bureau du chef et ses appartements à l’étage, un jardin de 8 ares, un puits, des toilettes, une cour et un hangar aux marchandises avec deux voies de garage, un pont à peser les wagons et les chariots, et une rampe de chargement. Outre les quelques convois quotidiens de voyageurs, Angre gérait un important va-et-vient de marchandises, malgré l’absence de raccordements privés: pulpes de betteraves, charbon, matières premières pour les fabriques de chicorée, sucre, « denrées coloniales », balles de houblon et wagons de bières venant de Louvain pour l’embouteillage dans les brasseries locales…&lt;/span&gt;&lt;/span&gt;&lt;meta equiv="Content-Type" content="text/html; La petite gare est née en 1882 avec l’arrivée du chemin de fer dans la zone. Les infrastructures de la gare d’Audregnies, située sur la droite de la Chaussée en se dirigeant vers Montignies-sur-Roc, étaient assez imposantes: toilettes, bureau des recettes et jardin de 11 ares doublé d’un autre de plus de 1,25 ares… la fierté du chef de gare! La station était pourvue d’une rampe de chargement, d’une vaste cour pavée pour le transit des marchandises, de quelques loges techniques pour les ouvriers de la voie. Un quai, disparu aujourd’hui, un wagon en bois fermé, un tombereau équipé d’une toiture, situé sur la droite en direction de Roisin, servait d’abri aux voyageurs. Juste après le point d’arrêt se situait le PN 45, non gardé. La maisonnette toute proche était celle d’un ancien piquer de la voie. Elle était occupée par la veuve d’un cheminot, Mme Cauvin, à la fin des années 50. Wihéries est le premier arrêt après la station « mère » de Dour. La station est implantée à cheval sur les villages d’Elouges et Wihéries, un choix politique et… géograhique. Politique car l’implantation de la gare « satisfait » les citoyens des deux villages. Géographique parce que le profil accidenté vers le Haut-Pays impose la ligne la plus droite possible. Initialement équipée d’un bâtiment provisoire en bois, Wihéries va se développer en halte et recevoir les honneurs d’un vrai bâtiment principal des voyageurs du type 1893 de l’Etat. Ici se croisaient la ligne industrielle de l'Ouest de Mons qui plongeant vers le charbonnage de Ferrand, et la ligne 98de l'Etat 98A qui filait vers le Haut-Pays... Un deuxième débouché vers la France, par Roisin en désenclavant le Haut-Pays, verra le jour le 1er mai 1882, pour le tronçon « Dour-Audregnies », et le 12 juin de la même année, pour la section Audregnies-Roisin-Autreppe.&lt;o:p&gt;&lt;/o:p&gt;&lt;/span&gt;&lt;span style="font-size:85%;"&gt;&lt;span style="font-family:arial;"&gt;  &lt;/span&gt;&lt;/span&gt;&lt;span style=";font-family:Tahoma;font-size:85%;"  &gt;D’un côté donc, les Dourois peuvent gagner Valenciennes par correspondance avec la ligne internationale. De l’autre, ils peuvent aller à Cambrai via Bavay. Mais ce n’est pas le trafic des voyageurs qui aurait assuré la rentabilité de ces lignes. Une aubaine pour les " frontaliers " de l'époque...
